I love my simple homemade granola for breakfast in summer. I top cottage cheese or yogurt with it and enjoy a light easy meal.

What I love about making homemade granola is you can mix it up with the ingredients and get a whole new flavor.
With homemade granola you can swap out the dried cherries for dried blueberries, cranberries or tried and true raisins.
I used slivered almonds as the nuts in this version but you can use pecans, macadamia nuts, pistachios…you name it. Or you can make it nut free!

I use about a 1/4 cup on yogurt also. I’ll have to try it on my cottage cheese.

The toasted Sesame Seeds add a depth of flavor that I truly miss if I leave them out. There are so many ways to customize this recipe to suit your own taste that makes it even more fun.

I love cashews, that sound wonderful!
I can’t say that I can taste the hemp because of all the other good things in the granola. Oh, I didn’t mention I also added cashews and walnuts….what the heck? I think it’s the cashews that made it taste so good, but who’s gonna be added cashews….they’re fattening (in a good way) but expensive. Next time I make the granola I think I’ll settle down and maybe add some raisins along with the almonds.

I made the granola yesterday. This is a good recipe, thanks. I added coated dates, goji berries, coconut & hemp seeds because I needed to use them in something before they went bad. I sometimes shop at Winco (and get a little carried away) in the bulk section (spices/nuts, etc.). Perhaps you have a Winco in your vicinity. Anyhow, again, thanks

It is tasty and it goes a long way. It is not light on calories though.
For a half cup it is about 600 calories so I don’t think it is something to eat a lot of. I use 1/4 cup on some plain yogurt sweetened with stevia for a treat and some fruit. Or I have it on cottage cheese and fruit. I hope this helps. 🙂
