What I am Working On For You

What I am working on for you.

I had big plans for today.  I was not only going to get great photos of the super yummy scones I made this week but I had big plans to get a couple video tutorials done.
I got some shots of the scones but it was a challenge.  We had dark skies and rainfall all day so I had to majorly tweak my photos in my photo editing program to get a few nice ones.
I put the photos up on Facebook for votes and the tea setting won out.
Personally, I think it is missing something…..
I know…….  it needs flowers.
White roses.
Roses make everything prettier.
Scones.I will share both set ups on the blog post which will include the recipe.
The scones came out even better than I had hoped and are so delicious that I had to make a second batch just to get a chance to photograph them.  We ate up the first batch in no time.
It was noon before I was done with the food photography session and I headed out to my toasty warm studio (I had ran out this morning and cranked up the heater) to make a video tutorial of Chickadees.
This is the painting I shared last week and had a request for a video tutorial of how to paint them.

Easy enough request…but wouldn’t you know that first my SD card started acting up…then my camera battery went dead.   So needless to say it took me much longer than it should have.
I have never thought I needed an extra camera battery but after today I am at least going to shop for one to have on hand.
I do have an extra SD card, I just need to keep it in my camera bag so it is easy to find when and if I need it in a rush.
Because it was so dark and gloomy out I had to set up some extra lamps in my studio and hope the light is not too garish for the video and photos.  My laptop is now rendering the video and I will start the YouTube upload right before we go to bed.  It may finish overnight or it may go into tomorrow.  I don’t know why it takes so long to upload to YouTube but it does, and sometimes there is a glitch and it gets interrupted and I have to start it over.  So lets hope the transfer goes smoothly tonight!
Here is a quick photo of the chickadee I painted for the step by step post, it is different than the one I did for the video.  Can you tell it is sitting on my painting table.  I think it is time to switch out the butcher paper.   I cover the table top with butcher paper and when it gets too messy I replace it with fresh.
Funny thing is I don’t even notice until I see it in a photo.

The other video I wanted to make was on painting a snowman.  Maybe I can get that one done tomorrow as well.
The next few weeks I am going to be extremely busy working on the mountain.  We have to snowmobile in to the houses now and with all this fresh snow the rentals are booking up. That means a couple of weeks of non-stop work.   I need to find my cozy sock cap, my ears freeze with that cold wind blowing on me as we whip around the mountain on the snow mobile, some snow pants would come in handy too.

Sorry, I started to ramble there.

So now that you know what to expect in the next week or so I shall say adios.

  1. I am uploading the video today. Somehow I forgot to set it to upload last night. Over tired, I guess. 🙂 It takes about 15 hours or so. Crazy, I know. But in the mean time I need to write up the step by step. I hope to post it Tuesday evening if not before.

  2. I am not a big fan of cold and having to snowmobile to the houses I clean is an inconvenience. Invariably I forget something and have to go back to where my car is parked. But most folks (vacationers) enjoy the ambiance of having to snowmobile into the homes instead of drive. I live near the resort and with all the snow it is getting up on the mountain this year looks to be busy one for it. I clean the vacation homes and condos as an independent contractor. But by the time the plow the roads in Spring I am with you, I am dead dog tired of having to snowmobile!

  3. Hopefully after Christmas I can paint a chickadee! I’ll keep my eyes open for a piece of wood. Don’t worry about the paper; Susan Branch cut hers up and gave them out as bookmarks!

  4. I am going to follow your tutorial on the chickadees. And I will certainly make the scones. I love scones.
You must have a resort or be working for someone who has a resort. After living in the northwoods for 20 years, I hope I never see a snowmobile again!
