Good Morning everybody.  What a gorgeous day!  I hope all are well.
I will confess right now that this post is rather random but I am all over the place with things I am loving at the moment so the title is Some of My Favorite Things.
(this post contains affiliate links, please see the disclosure page for more info)
I have been a bit absent here…so much going on.  I am having a great time painting in the studio and I get quite caught up in it.
I also am working on a painting video on how to paint hummingbirds but I am struggling with his eye.  I should have it down today and get that all wrapped up and posted for you this week.
I will also have a few more glass painting projects to show you.  If you missed my Roses on Glass here is the link.
Thanksgiving Cactus, FlowerPatchFarmhouse.comI am so enjoying my Thanksgiving Cactus that are blooming so generously this year.  I have several colors, they really brighten up the indoor decor and are fun to have.
There is a difference between the Thanksgiving Cactus and the Christmas Cactus.
Here is a photo of my one true Christmas cactus next to one of my Thanksgiving Cactus, can you see the difference in the leaves?  The Christmas cactus has rounded edges and the Thanksgiving is more spiky.

Thanksgiving cacti are often sold as “Christmas cacti” and these two holiday plants look very similar so they are often confused. Both fall under the genus Schlumbergera, have the same color scheme and require the same care. A Christmas cactus is Schlumbergera x buckleyi and a Thanksgiving cactus is Schlumbergera truncata.
There is an Easter Cactus as well but I have no experience with it and instead of coming from a Tropical area it is native to dryer more dessert like conditions.
All of mine were started from cuttings.

Here are some links to some really pretty ones from a vendor I have dealt with and like for started plants. But you can find the Holiday Cactus many times at the grocery store this time of year or local garden centers too.

I am photographing all of my Holiday Cacti so I can maybe, just maybe, learn to paint them.

Another favorite thing I want to share is for those of you with long hair or have daughters/granddaughters (sons even) that have long hair and is a hassle to comb out after washing.  This has changed my life for the better.  I have long, thick hair and combing it out after washing was such a trial.
This Wet Hair Brush is a life (head) saver.  It smooths out tangles comfortably in a snap.
I am not kidding, it is worth every dime and more.
Along with the brush I use Its A 10 serum for smoothing out the fly aways.

I have tried Argan oil but it hasn’t worked as well for me as the Its a 10.

Here is something for the kitchen…a couple months ago I ran across these at Wal-Mart and was smitten.  The Pioneer Woman has her own line of kitchen products available exclusively at Wal-Mart and much of it is right up my alley as well as affordable.  I particularly like the teal color items..
Pioneer Woman glass tumblers, ramekins and platter available from Wal-Mart. FlowerPatchFarmhouse.comI have 4 of the Tumblers and they come in other colors too…click here to see them all…Pioneer Woman Tumblers
I have plans to make some single serving desserts or chicken pot pies in the Ramekins
Now for what is on my wishlist…
Pioneer Woman Goblets  & the Pitcher to match

one more…this batter bowl, it makes me happy every time I see it so it is also on my wishlist

You know I am reacquainting myself with glass painting and this lovely lady is my inspiration.  She has an Etsy shop full of fabulous painted wine glasses, there is something for everyone.  I can only aspire to paint one day as well as she does on glass…go and visit her website and be prepared to be impressed.

Well, I warned you this was a random post!
Have a great week everyone, I plan on painting as much as possible and just having a great time doing it.  Of course, I will get that hummingbird video tweaked and ready to view.

  1. The glasses were out of stock online a couple months back then I walked into a Wal-Mart in a neighboring town and there they sat. They did not have the bowl then but a sales gal said they get regular shipments in and to just keep trying as they fly off the shelf as well as online. I don’t need another bowl but I think I would have it setting on my counter to just make me happy when I looked at it.

  2. Like the Pioneer Woman collection too. Hard to find right now. I have never seen the pour mixing bowl! Too cute. Merry Christmas! Linda from Create – Share – Inspire

  3. Bummer, lets hope they get it back in again soon. They fly off the shelves in the store as well.

Yes, I do love it. The bowl is so colorful. It is actually out of stock right now.
