Learn How to Paint Beautiful Trumpet Vine

This is such a fun flower to paint. And super easy too, so grab your brushes and paints and let’s get started. You can soooo do this. A video is, of course, included.
Surface to paint
Folk Art or DecoArt Americana Craft paint
in the following colors or whatever you choose.
Tangelo Orange or Vivid Orange
Thicket or Evergreen
#12 flat brush
#4 or 6 flat brush

If it helps, draw on your design. Double load your #12 flat brush with mostly orange then on one corner of your brush add some of the Burgundy color. (the video at the end of the post shows how I did this)
Stroke on the bottom of the petal keeping the burgundy on the outside edge.
Reload your brush the same way and do the upper part lapping over the orange.
Fill in the base of the flower with orange.
With the edge of your brush with the burgundy on it, shadow along the top of the petal where the calyx will attach. (see video for clarification) With the tiniest touch of burgundy mixed with orange, use the chisel edge of the brush to pull in some lines for texture. I also sometimes do this with a touch of yellow, depends on my mood.
Now add the calyx with your number 4 brush and a double load of the dark green and the lighter green. Stroke on 3, they look like an upside down leaf.
You can use the chisel edge of your #4 brush or a script liner to stroke on your stem.
Add leaves and some vines and you have your gorgeous Trumpet Vine!
