Hello June!

I don’t know about you but this is one of my favorite times of year.  My garden is putting on a show you just have to see to believe.  All the cold winter months dreaming and planning are rewarded from now until November.  You gotta love such a rich reward.  So all I can say is Hello June!

Grape Kookaid Iris

I actually had an entire post written on how I grow Clematis, it was filled with gorgeous photos of the varieties I grow, with some really good info on how to have Clematis blooming from early Spring right up to frost.  But somehow some way I hit a wrong button and POOF! It was gone.  Like not a trace.  Oh well, that will be coming as soon as I have the gumption to rewrite it.  It took me a few hours.  Sigh!

So instead you get a garden tour today but I have to say, it is worth it in my estimation.   Here is a good shot of my Zepherine Drouhin rose, it is loving life right now and giving me the sweetest blooms you can imagine. I posted on how to prune roses here.  Make sure you read the part on pruning climbing roses to see how I prune this one for the abundance of blooms.

My Russel Lupine has self seeded and now I have several of the blue/purple bloomers up and down this bed.  I had a fucshia pink one too but that one has disappeared.  I need to get seeds for another as they are such hardy souls in this spot.  The purple contrasts with this orange Iris better than I could’ve planned.

The Dianthus I put in last Fall along a walkway has just been doing terrific.  Once it is done I will sheer it back and it will bloom again, and as long as I keep it dead headed it will keep on blooming. Dianthus

Another of my new Iris is Crystal Gazer, I planted it last Fall and I love the soft, subtle coloration.  A soft lavender with mauve splashed here and there.

Chinook Winds

I usually fail to capture how dark this Iris is, many times it shows up in photos as more purple than black but to view it in person it is so dark.  It is called Superstition.  I took it early in the morning, the pink one behind is Beverly Sills.

Mornings in the garden are my favorite.  It is so quiet except for the birds singing.  The cool air and my hot cup of coffee in hand make for a restful walk among the flowers and a great start to my day.  This Iris I have long forgotten the name of, but it has a slight fragrance of lemon chiffon pie… so I have dubbed it Lemon Chiffon.
Yellow Iris

This gorgeous addition is called Can’t Touch This. Can't Touch This Iris

I really did try to capture an overall view of one of my long borders…it simply does not do it justice but it will have to suffice.  I guess I should’ve made the attempt to disguise the neighbors propane tank, but honestly, you are so enthralled with viewing the flowers in person you don’t notice the view beyond.

With so much needing to be attended to in the garden and taking care of some custom orders I am a bit behind in my painting tutorials but I will be bringing more for you to enjoy.

It won’t be long now and the Daisies, Echinaceas,  Black Eyed Susans and Delphiniums will be blooming.  Click on each link (the word is red) for how to grow them.  I will be sure to share more of my garden as it changes.

To see many more garden posts and tutorials just click here GARDEN or the tool bar in the header will take you there too.

Until we chat again I wish you Happy Blooms and Garden Blessings.

  6. I think I did one of those dumb things, when I went to save a draft it said something like the back up is more current that the one showing and I saved the draft anyways. It must’ve had a blip in my internet so the draft on screen was older than what wordpress has saved for me. POOF, there went all my work, all I had left was the first photo and sentence. As soon as I hit save I knew I had done a bad thing. I was in a hurry and that is when I make grave errors. 😛 Go ahead and swoon, I edit out the weedy parts, so lazy gardener I am too, I just have so many flowers that it distracts the eye from them.

  7. How maddening to lose the post, did it not save in your drafts? Anyway what you are showing today is beautiful, the mix of colors and textures looks perfect together. I will swoon over your flowers and stick to my simple shrubs 🙂 (Lazy girl garden ya know?) LOL
