A few roses in my garden!Good Morning!
Are you ready for some rosy goodness??
(Dream Weaver)
spotted (19 of 23)My roses are doing fabulous right now.
I had a grand time walking among them this morning capturing a few photos.
My arbor out front is dripping with vibrant Tess d’ Ubervilles
spotted (2 of 23)and my Eden is fast catching up.
I am so in love with her delicate beauty.
spotted (1 of 23)I wish I had somewhere else to park my Burb but my driveway is still full of stuff.
From a little further back so you get the entire view.
spotted (3 of 23)All of my climbers are doing quite well.
My side porch posts will soon be nothing but roses.
(From back to front, Zepherine Drouhin, William Baffin, Dream Weaver)spotted (18 of 23)The ground cover roses are also putting on a show.
The pink lovelies are Petal Pusherspotted (11 of 23)Happy Chappy fits its name, it just beams cheer.
spotted (16 of 23)A closer lookspotted (17 of 23)This petite white rose is an aggressive grower, it will root wherever a cane touches the ground, it spreads and covers an area in not time.
The added bonus is it blooms non-stop all summer.spotted (8 of 23)I transplanted a couple climbers next to my studio last summer.
I thought they were the same variety.
I was mistaken, but they still look pretty.
spotted (1 of 1)Charles Darwin was my very first David Austin English rose.
That was more than 15 years ago.
rosecollageI have many more English roses now, some are still in pots and need to find a home in the ground.
Somewhere.

And though this is not a rose….
it was just too gorgeous not to share.
This is a clematis, whose name I have forgotten.
spotted (20 of 23)And here is a bit of a funny.
You know that rose starting trick on Pinterest and all over the web??
The one where you stick a rose cane in a potato and voila’
you get another rose???
Well, I didn’t get a rose…
instead, I got potatoes!
You can still see the rose cane sticking out.
The top above the soil was all brown and dead but I see the underneath is still green.
I replanted it to see if the rose cane would actually grow
and maybe I will get more potatoes too.
spotted (6 of 23)For my tried and true rose propagating method feel free to click on over to that post.

And last but not least,
my morning bounty from the strawberries I have just let run as ground cover.
spotted (5 of 23)I see strawberry jam in my future.
Enjoy your day!
Happy Gardening!

  1. I am “stumbling” thru learning Stumble Upon myself, so don’t feel bad. I am getting a bit better as time goes on. Thanks so much for dropping me a note. 🙂 We will all master this new stuff!

  2. I love all your roses, and your photos are gorgeous. I Stumbled the post, and the window popped up and tells me good discovery. So I don’t understand one way or another how I know if SU or not. So I am stumbling anyway.

  3. I get them from the actual D. Austin website. Only a few have I found at Garden centers.

  4. Beautiful roses…..just beautiful! I am novice with roses. Can I ask where do you find D. Austin roses….catalogs?

  5. What a lovely stroll around your property, and with potatoes and strawberries to snack on! GREAT potato story, and I bet that rose will still surprise you. I, too, grow lots of antique roses with Zepherine Drouhin being one of my very favorites. Thanks so much for sharing – have a lovely Sunday!

  6. We had a very mild (practically none) winter so I think that may be why mine are doing so well so early. Typically I don’t get roses till nearly July 1st. But this summer will be short on water so I need to enjoy them now as when I have to restrict water they will not perform so wonderfully. Though Happy Chappy will, it is one of those wonderfully crazy roses that will bloom even under tough conditions.

  7. Beautiful roses! You have so many and each one is gorgeous, but I think I like that little Happy Chappy the best. I love roses. I wish I had more room and sun to grow more of them. Ours took a beating from last years harsh winter and I’ve had to cut them back practically to the ground. Not so many blooms this summer. Thanks for sharing yours.

  8. Glad you enjoyed it, my hubby enjoyed eating the baby potatoes this morning with breakfast. You have a great weekend too.

  9. My method I normally use to propagate roses is similar to the jar over the cane, I have an entire planting box that I put a glass fish aquarium over, it works great. I can do many canes at once this way. I thought folks would get a kick out of the rose/potato fail. But since the cane is still green underneath it may yet sprout. Who knows…

  10. The potato story is TOO funny! Thanks for sharing your morning stroll and pics. Enjoyed viewing and reading.
    Have a great weekend!

  11. Pamela, your roses are beautiful! That’s funny about the potatoes, but they do look good, though. I’ve never tried this before, but I read about propagating roses with a flower head planted and a mayonnaise jar over it. I’ll have to read about it again, but my cousin says that’s how her mother did it, too.

    Blessings for the day,
    Marianne
